About the Project

Amend is a non-governmental organization that works in sub-Saharan Africa to reduce the incidence of road traffic injury via the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based programs. Road traffic injuries kill over 1.3 million anually worldwide, and it is the leading cause of death for children above the age of five in Africa, yet the issue receives only a fraction of the attention and funding of better-known causes of death and disability. The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that “the interventions promoted by Amend are perfectly in line” with those being promoted by the WHO. Amend is a member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration, the coordinating body for road safety issues across the United Nations system.
