HEC Alumni Tracking - [Insert Cool Name Here]

About the Project

Now in its 17th year, the Homeless Employment Collaborative, comprised of 10 agencies, provides a comprehensive range of job training, work readiness, placement and job retention services for adults experiencing homelessness in San Francisco. The long term success of the clients is paramount to these programs while maintaining communication and tracking changes in employment and housing presents a challenge. Providing smartphones for program graduates with prepaid plans contingent upon responding to quarterly surveys will meet this challenge in way that is beneficial to both the clients and program administrators.

Gustavo and Allen presented the team's final product at the Homeless Hacktivation closing ceremony. The outcome is a system using Heroku, SurveyGizmo and Django which sends a text to all contacts with a link to a simple survey. The survey is unique to each contact, asks only applicable questions through logic based questions and dynamically updates any changes reported by the respondent. Collected data can be manipulated by the HEC program staff to inform decisions and see trends for more informed decision making.
