We worked on a framework that our emergency shelter will use to manage their waiting list for 120-day beds. It's built on the information they already collect, putting it into a structure that can accept data from text messages, a smart phone app, an automated phone call, a website, or a staff person. When a bed becomes available the system will automatically identify who is next on the list, reducing human input and error. We also began working on the SMS system that clients will be able to use to get information about shelter beds AND to get on and move up the waitlist. This is part of a larger project to engage with young people from San Francisco and around the country to provide services online. This will include information and referrals, making appointments with our staff, participating in forums, and engaging in case management, therapy, and education online.
